7 most dangerous things in the universe that could destroy the Earth.
The outer space holds many fascinating mysteries, but also, many deadly
dangers. It is a violent place in which phenomena more powerful than the
explosion of atomic bombs.
These phenomena can destroy entire populations. They are uncontrollable
and almost inevitable occurrences.
These forces are already active, hidden in the corners of the universe.
Here begins a journey, for "The 7 most lethal threats that could
truly end the earth”
7. The Magnetar.
On
December 27, 2004, satellites detected the largest cosmic explosion ever
recorded.
This
explosion was strong enough to make some of the orbiting satellites obsolete.
This
explosion was caused by a magnetar. One of the most dangerous stars in the
universe.
These
lethal stars possess the most powerful magnetic field in the universe. If only
a magnetar appeared halfway between the earth and the moon, it would be so
strong it would destroy the ozone layer, and interfere with all electronic equipment
on the planet, causing massive extinctions.
Scientists
have identified twelve of these stars in our galaxy ... and there could be
more.
Magnetars
have almost no chance of exploding on our planet, yet it is one of the most
powerful forces hidden in the universe.
6. The black hole.
Scientists have confirmed the existence of an almost ghostly force,
which may well be the most damaging phenomenon in the universe.
These are black holes.
A black hole is a region of space in which the force of gravity is so
intense that nothing can escape it. Not even the light. It's like a whirlwind
that eats everything in its surroundings.
There are thousands of black holes in our universe and because we cannot
see them, one could be very close.
A black hole is one of the most fearsome and mysterious forces in the
universe, nothing escapes it, not even the suns and planets.
If a black hole were to suddenly appear in our orbit, it would be
harmful enough to swallow us or throw us into a void.
While the possibility of earth being eaten by a black hole is almost
nil, if it did happen, it would be terrifying.
5. Galaxy collisions.
Our galaxy could be the victim of another phenomena that threatens our existence.
From time to time, one of the most primitive disasters occurs in the
universe known as, "Galactic Cannibalism"
This phenomenon consists, in the collision of 2 galaxies, where the smallest
galaxy is eaten by the largest.
Two million light-years away, the Andromeda galaxy, our neighboring
galaxy, is approaching dangerously at a speed of 120 km per second.
Both our galaxy and Andromeda have the same spiral shape. However,
Andromeda has twice the mass and also has in its center a supermassive black
hole which is 30 million times the size of our sun.
If it were to collide with our galaxy, it’s quite clear we would not be
the victors. Our planet could disappear, like many others in our solar system.
However, this merger will occur in 3000 million years. We’ll be safe for
a long time to come.
4. Quasar.
In other corners of outer space, one of the most violent occurrences in
the universe is hidden.
This is the quasar phenomenon.
A quasar is a kind of supermassive black hole very powerful, but unlike
a common black hole, these have the characteristic of emitting powerful jets of
light.
These quasars receive the energy of the black holes and concentrate it
in those ejecting jets.
It is not yet known what these flashes are made of, however, any planet
that get too close, would burn all the inhabitants alive.
3. Supernova.
Stars are something beautiful we see on all those clear nights. However,
they have a dark side. Every so often, a star exhausts its nuclear fuel and
runs out of energy to support its mass and ends up exploding, producing a
supernova.
This explosion has been the means by which many planets were formed, but
also the reason why some planets have disappeared.
If a supernova were to occur very close to the earth, it could
undoubtedly destroy life, burning everything in its path.
There are currently 2 stars in our galaxy that have the potential to
destroy the earth and create an apocalypse.
It is not known when these stars will explode. It could be tonight, or
in 10,000 years. But one thing is certain, this will happen.
2. The death of the sun.
The fate of the earth is sealed. There is no way to survive many of the
cosmic events that threaten the earth. One of them is inevitable, it is the
death of the sun.
Within 5000 million years, hydrogen, which is the sun's fuel and keeps
it stable, will run out. This will cause the sun to swell in such a way that it
will eventually evaporate Mercury, Venus, and Earth.
The only way to survive would be to move to another planet.
If we were to survive in any way, the land would no longer be the same.
It would go from being a blue and green planet to a red planet with extreme
temperatures in which nothing survives.
Finally, the sun, already of an enormous size will re-shrink and will
become a small star.
The sun, which gave us life will be the same celestial body capable of
snatching us from existence.
1. Asteroids.
The next phenomenon is a disaster that has already occurred. It happened
65 million years ago producing the extinction of the dinosaurs.
However, this phenomenon could be repeated again and we could be next.
Those responsible for these atrocities are asteroids.
Known as small planets, these objects act as space bullets that destroy
everything with which it collides.
Depending on the size, the damage may be minor or greater.
At present 439 asteroids are known to orbit the earth.
The earth, is like a target for many asteroids that are orbiting through
space. Undoubtedly, the closest danger we have are asteroids.
It will not take millions of years for this to happen, just enough of a
sudden change in direction of an asteroid’s path and it will all be over.
Number 0. The Comets.
Similar to an asteroid, the last position in this ranking is occupied by
comets.
Comets possess a fearsome feature, composed of rock and ice these
objects are virtually invisible to some telescopes.
They are not easily detectable until they approach the sun, because
being composed of ice evaporates and forms a visible vapor cloud. However, at
this distance, it would be too late to stop them.
To date, more than 1000 comets have been detected around our solar
system and each year more are discovered, and with it, the possibilities of
that earth's impact increases.
Comets, like asteroids, are objects that are constantly threatening the
earth.
It is only a matter of time before one of them impacts the land.
